Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes strikes suddenly and aggressively.
It appears in 10% of the population. In this case the body does not produce any insulin at all.
Most of the patients of this form of the sickness are children and young adults (usually under 40).
That's the reason it's called also "Juvenile Diabetes".
People with this kind of sickness are treated with insulin injections because their body cannot produce the insulin. They also have to balance their blood glucose level, so they have to be on a special diet which controls food components and their amounts.
Since their body cannot supply insulin, the cells remain without food, and the patients are thin.
You don't have to fear! Although this is the more serious case, it can be treated properly and you can expect living a long healthy and happy life.
